Smart Container Alliance officially launched to revolutionize global trade security

In response to the growing challenges related to illicit trade, supply chain security, and regulatory complexity, the Smart Container Alliance has been established to support the adoption of advanced IoT technologies in containerized transport, particularly along sensitive trade routes. This joint initiative brings together industry leaders with a shared objective: to enhance cargo traceability, reinforce the security and resilience of maritime trade, and support public authorities and enforcement agencies in addressing increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

The Smart Container Alliance was created to pursue the following objectives:

Offer a neutral and collaborative forum for industry stakeholders and standards bodies to exchange knowledge, identify operational challenges, and support the adoption of best practices across the sector.

Promote the secure, sustainable, and interoperable deployment of smart container technologies in Europe and worldwide, in order to improve the integrity, efficiency, transparency, and environmental performance of global supply chains.

Provide independent, evidence-based expertise to European and international institutions involved in transport, digitalisation, cybersecurity, customs, and environmental regulation, including technical contributions to the development of harmonised standards, data exchange frameworks, and relevant public policies.
